On May 15th, Bioincubate will host startup pitches, an industry hackathon finale, networking and a full dinner + Apéro at the Kunsthaus Ballroom.
🚀 Startup Showcase: 9 early stage life-science startups will pitch in front of a panel of judges and audience with investors / potential partners.
🔨 Forge Hackathon Finale: 2 teams in the Forge BioIncubate program will compete to present their solution to Lonza's challenge in BioManufacturing, ultimately going for the grand prize of CHF 30k.

13th May 2024 - How Do Bacteria Invent New Antibiotics?
Ever wonder how bacteria invent new antibiotics? Join us for this lunch lecture with Dr. Aleks Nivina (UZH Junior Group Leader) on the evolution of biosynthetic enzymes and how some of their products are then used as antibiotics — with apéro! In collaboration with iGEM UZurich 🧬.

4th May 2024 - SOLA Staffette
With a new year comes a new SOLA, and just like last time SBL is looking to prove that in addition to labbin' we can also run.
If you don't know what SOLA is, you can check it out here. In short, it's a 14-person stafette race covering 114 km across Zürich. It's quite an event with ~1000 teams competing every year. From our experience last year and we can confirm it was a blast. We are looking for people to join our 2024 team! Don't worry, you don't have to be a seasoned runner. As SOLA offers route lengths ranging from 3.69 to 14.11 km, there is a stretch for everyone, from 'I only run for the bus' to 'A marathon, pfff'. Following the race, the runners usually go for a barbecue in the Irchel park or somewhere in the area, and we plan to do the same.

Next Wednesday is the project reveal with both iGEM teams. The two teams iGEM UZurich and iGEM ETH competing in this year’s synthetic biology competition will present the ideas that they will then bring to Paris next November.
